PROSTITUTION: Over 200 Nigerian Girls Are Trafficked to Russia Every Month

At least 200 Nigerian girls are trafficked every month to Russia for prostitution.

Nigeria’s ambassador to Russia, Ambassador Asam Asam, disclosed this in an interview with the Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Berlin, Germany.Investigation has shown that the crime had declined in Western Europe following strict laws on illegal migration, and joint efforts by Nigeria and the governments of those countries to curb the menace.

But the ambassador disclosed that attention had shifted to Eastern Europe as the new destination for the trade. He said: “The major consular challenge we face in Moscow is the influx of trafficked persons from Nigeria.
Not less than 200 girls are trafficked every month, and we have so many of them exposed to danger. “Some are thrown out of the window and treated harshly. There must be a way of stopping these racketeering.
These girls are not tourists, students or government officials yet they are given visas from the Russian Embassy in Abuja. “So far we have deported over 240 girls since 2012.
But you will be shocked at the extent of resistance from the girls. We tell them Russia is not a destination for prôstitutes yet they still come.”
According to the envoy, the mission tries to curb the menace by deporting those caught, but the challenges are enormous. Asam said such intervention would be more effective at the point of entry.
He said: “The strategy is to stop them from Nigeria, and fish out those involved in the trade. “For instance, a well known Russian human trafficker who has been in the trade for about 20 years, was caught in Nigeria.
“The National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons, NAPTIP, was on the verge of releasing her before I filed a protest from Moscow to the Comptroller General of Immigration.”
Asam said even the parents of those trafficked encouraged their children. He added: “I spoke to the mother of one of the girls and she said her daughter should remain in Moscow and try to survive the ordeal. This is very sad indeed coming from one’s parent.”
The ambassador tasked the media on sensitising the public to the dangers of trafficking in Russia. He said: “This East European nation has become a new destination for them, and believe me it is a very big crime here.”
Asam, however, said other Nigerians residing in that country were students and professionals in various fields of human endeavor.

Polytechnic Security Guard and 5 others held for Raping Girl In Ekiti

A guard and two students of a private polytechnic in Ado- Ekiti have been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a female student.

Two other students who were part of the four-student group that allegedly gang-raped the girl on May 5 are on the run.
The police spokesman, Mr. Victor Babayemi, told journalists while parading the suspects, 20-year-old Kunle Aralepo and 23-yearold Oluwaseun Akomolafe, that their two accomplices – Kehinde Adeyemi and Ayo Olomola – were at large.
Babayemi said the victim reported the incident to the school authorities after which the Chief Security Officer (CSO) directed one of the guards, 28-year-old Mr. Seyi Adanbioye, to lead the girl to the police.
According to him, the guard instead took the victim to his apartment where he also forcibly had canal knowledge of her.
The police spokesman said the gang also dispossessed the girl of her mobile phone and N5, 000.
Narrating her ordeal, the 18-year-old victim said the four-man gang broke her door to gain access to her apartment where they tied her up, tore her dress and raped her.
Among the four-man gang, she said she recognised Ayo Olomola, who had, before that day, threatened to forcibly have sex with her.
She said: “The gangsters said they had come to do what I refused to allow Ayo Olomola, their leader, to do and they took turns to rape me.
“After I had reported the matter, the CSO directed the security man to take me home, but on our way, the security man said he received a call from the CSO directing him to take me to his (security man) place for safety purpose. It was at his house that night that he ráped me again”.
The police also paraded 22-year-old Tope Oluwasusi and 24-year-old Tope Babalola for allegedly raping a female victim on her way home at Ilawe-Ekiti.
The police spokesman said the victim was taken to hospital for examination and the test confirmed the allegation.
The police also paraded the proprietor of an Ado- Ekiti-based private nursery and primary school, Mr. Ibitoye Babatope, for allegedly raping an 11-year-old pupil in the bush.
Babayemi, who decried the spate of rape and defilement of minors in the state in recent time, advised parents to have a closer watch on their wards.

''Boko Haram Is Getting Weaker'' - Nigerian Military

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Wednesday said the killings of scores of people in Borno and Yobe in the past few days are signs that the Boko Haram terrorists are losing the battle against government forces.
The military said the trend of sneaking in to carry out isolated attacks on soft targets as a way of seeking attention is a typical end-game strategy often employed by insurgents all over the world.
Seven secondary school students and two teachers were killed in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital when gunmen, believed to be Boko Haram, attacked a government school on Sunday. A day later, suspected Boko Haram gunmen attacked two different locations, a school and a fishing village, in Maiduguri, Borno State capital, killing nine students and 13 fishermen.
In a statement signed by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade, the Nigerian military said the recent activities are signs of desperation of a decimated insurgent group attempting to hang on to public consciousness.
With the destruction of their operational bases and camps by the Special Forces, the group’s centre of gravity had been effectively dislocated, he said. He said this had made it impossible for the terrorists to have freedom of action to operate as they did previously.
The military also said eight of the suspected terrorists have been apprehended in the outskirts of Maiduguri.
The statement said Special Forces have stepped up the mop-up, cordon and search operations “to ensure that the vestiges of terrorism are effectively decimated.
“The DHQ has noted a number of attacks and killing of innocent citizens ostensibly carried out by terrorists in Yobe and Borno in the last couple of days.
“Although this isolated incidents were undertaken by relocating terrorists, the whole trend and development remains unfortunate and condemnable.
“Nevertheless, the public is hereby reassured that these incidences are by no means indicative of a relapse in the counter-insurgency operation aimed at curbing terrorists’ activities in the country.”
The military, however, urged the public to continue to report any suspicious movement to security agents.

Ribery And Benzema Tried Paying For S^X With An Under-Age Prostitute.

French footballers Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema are to go on trial in Paris on charges of paying for s*x with an under-age prostitute.
Under French law, paid s*x with someone under the age of 18 is regarded as s*x with a minor- punishable by three years in prison and €45,000 fine.
Algerian-born Ms Zahia Dehar had told investigators that neither footballer had known her real age at the time of their affairs- because she had lied to them.
Ms Zahia Dehar.
But soliciting for s*x from a prostitute under 18 in France is a crime even albeit the 15 years legal age of consenting s*x.
The state prosecutor had asked for the case to be dropped in November 2009, but the investigating judge said Ms Dehar looked so young that they must have known.
The affair which came to fore early 2010 (before the World Cup in South Africa) also involved six other people. Some of them accused of ‘aggravated pimping.’
Ribery and Benzema were arrested as part of an investigation into a Paris prostitution ring. Mr Ribery has since admitted of having s*x with Ms Dehar in Munich in 2009, when she was 18. Benzema denies there was any encounter, which Ms Dehar countered by saying he paid her for s*x in 2008 when she was only 16.
For Mr. Ribery’s lawyer Carlo-Alberto Brusa, for a girl to have traveled across border for paid s*x means she exactly knew what she was up to. He will request for the case to be thrown out on Tuesday.
Ms Dehar went on to become a fashion designer for Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and protégée, launching her own luxury and lingerie line following the launch of the high-profile investigation.
Franck Ribery is a Bayern Munich midfielder, married to his childhood sweetheart and also an observant convert to Islam. Karim Benzema is a Real Madrid forward.

Naija Babes Now Pose Nudé To Trend On Social Media

Nudé pictures are beginning to dominate the Nigerian Twitter space as the act is fast becoming fashionable among young ladies.

One of the typical Twitter female users of the social network who engage in this act is one with the name, Pretty Osaro. Osaro posted three nudé pictures of herself on May 15, each showing her in different positions. On her handle she says, I wanna be famous, doesn’t matter how many guys

The main objectives ladies who engage in the despicable act seek to achieve is to break into trending topics on the social service and ultimately build a huge Twitter following and gain cheap popularity.

Ladies who have made this act a hobby employ hashtags to string together these obscene pictures to get them easily noticeable by other Twitter users. For instance, some of them use hashtags such as #bóobsmonday, #bóobsfriday and post their nudé photographs.

Other girls equally interested are lured into posting their own nudé pictures on the social site by employing the use of the hashtags for the day — such as #bóobstuesday on a Tuesday, which make their nudé pictures travel fast and go viral.

Osaro went on to lament that her previous Twitter account was suspended and lashed out at those who reported her via Twitter Help Center for posting offensive contents. "My previous account was suspended, if you don’t like what I do kindly unfollow or f..k out of my timeline,’’ she says.

In the usual manner in which desperate girls seeking fame on social media do, Osaro has at one time or the other reached out to celebrities who make use of Twitter to retweet her to the hundreds of thousands of their fans.

The day Osaro posted her nudé pictures on the social service, she tweeted the same picture to Nigerian music artistes — Wizkid and Davido with — a view to getting them retweet the pictures.

She has also sought the help of American socialite and TV personality, Kim Kardashian who has over 17 million Twitter followers. Tweeting at Kardashian, she says, "Am I not hotter than @Kimkardashian? @KimKardashian, I love you so much please retweet me."

Other Twitter users with the names Bayelsa Queen and Ha Royal Séxcellency regularly trend on Twitter, posting their nudé pictures. Besides, there is a nudé picture being credited to one Adefope Temilola, which has been circulating on Twitter for over two months.

A new media enthusiast, Tunji Lardner, describes the development as a “really bad behaviour’’, adding that typical youthful aspirations are now being amplified globally by social media. He adds that with the current level of under-development in the country, Nigerian youths — both male and female, should redirect their youthful vigour to hold political leaders accountable for their misdeeds with the new media technologies.

He says, “These are invariably young and immature people grappling with the need for popularity and acclaim from their peers. This is just another manifestation of the ongoing breakdown of our social order and the loss of parental control and oversight of our digital children with analog parents.’’

Lardner who is the Executive Director, West Africa NGO Network, warns that those engaged in the act risk the negative consequences and urges them to move towards changing the content and quality of their online discourse.

He says, “Everything lives forever on the Internet. Those pictures posted will be archived and someday retrieved, and can most certainly come back to haunt you, perhaps when you are looking for a job or even when you want to get married.’’

“Those involved can start by changing the quality and contents of their online discourse. Use these powerful technologies to interrogate the political system, ask the tough questions, find the tough answers and hold their leaders accountable for their misdeeds.’’

Speaking on the ways of stemming the tide in the country, he observes that it is difficult to legislate morality on a global and virtual platform like the Internet. According to him, the responsibility for the moral tone and content of youth participation in social media still rests with society at large.

“Their engagement on these platforms and the quality of their discourse is a direct reflection of the society’s prevailing norms. But there should be an understood code of conduct that is widely disseminated, spelling out the pitfalls of the dark side of social media.

“Perhaps the traditional media can help evolve this standard, and there is no need to reinvent the wheel. There is a considerable body of work that deal with youth and the use of social media,’’ he adds.

My Neighbours Said I Used My Daughter For Rituals

A member of the Bishop David Oyedepo-led Winners’ Chapel, Mr. Samuel Eleng, is the father of a four-year-old girl, Praise, who returned home last week after spending two years and three months with her kidnappers. He spoke on how she got missing, the trauma the family went through and how she eventually regained freedom.

How did your daughter, Praise, get missing?

My daughter, Praise, is four years and three months old. She has a twin sister, Glory. I am a member of the Winners’ Chapel. I have been a member since 2000.

They were given birth to on April 17, 2009 at Festac town. The way they were delivered was a miracle- 19 children were delivered and they were the only twins and they were taken to the altar and were anointed.

When they clocked two years and 10 months on April 17, 2011, I came here with my children, it was an anointing service. I told my wife, “Can we take them to Children’s Department?” and she said “yes.”

Praise was not happy about going to the children’s department that day. I didn’t understand was she was saying. So, I forced them to go that day.

We all went to the children’s department and two tags were given to us. And we came back to the service celebrating in God’s presence.

After the service I told my wife to pick the children from the Children’s Department and meet me in the bus. She agreed. So, we went to our bus and we were all waiting. We waited for five minutes and she did not come and we started getting worried. The driver of the bus asked what was delaying her and I said ‘may be my wife was finding it difficult bringing the children’. Then, I went to look for her.

What did you see when you got to the Children’sDepartment?
When I got to the children’s department, I saw her weeping outside and asked what the problem was. She said ‘our baby Praise cannot be found’. I asked the teacher in charge and she said the person who gave them the two tags had gone for fourth service. I said, ‘madam, do you people play negligence here?’ She said, ‘no, everywhere is well secured.’ Then I said, ‘how come my baby is missing? How can a baby get out of this environment without you observing it?’ She said I should check the next class. We checked the next class, all to no avail.

Throughout that day, we were in confusion; I refused to go home and insisted on seeing Bishop David Oyedepo.

At the end of the service, I saw the Bishop and told him what happened. He quickly rushed with me to the Children’s Department and asked where the class was. I pointed at it and he made declarations: ‘I have not sensed any evil signal; that child is coming back.’ I held on to that word because he is a man I love so much. I keyed to the word and I said, ‘daddy what next?’ He said I should go to the camp house and stay with my wife. I said ‘ok’.

What happened thereafter?
That was when we started our problem. Monday came, nothing happened. On Tuesday too, there was nothing. The Bishop always came to visit us, asking how we were. I always told him we were fine. He kept proclaiming the same declarations that she would be found. And we held on to it. But as a man in the flesh, I was touched and started weeping and crying. One day, we said ‘ok, if that is the case, let’s make it public’ and we contacted AIT. We went there and she was on telecast and we continued our prayers. We still held on to God. Neighbours made comments and nicknames were given that I had used my child for rituals; that I had connived with the bishop and it is only me who know what has happened to my child. Whatsoever they said, I paid deaf ears to it. But my sure assurance was that brethren gathered in the presence of God. I never attempted to go anywhere else.

You said people gave you names. What names? Did you lose hope of finding her and how were you comporting yourself amidst the name-calling and trauma? My bishop gave an instruction at the Church Secretariat, up to the secretary on the last floor – that if I came to the office, nobody must say that he was not around. He said anytime I came, they should take me up and he would be comforting me with the word of God and that’s what I did. So, anytime I felt down, I would just come down to the church. My wife came with the little baby, that she wanted to see daddy.

I said, ‘daddy this is what they have said again concerning me’. He would then say, “Samuel kneel down” and I would go on my knees and he would embrace me and say, “I transfer my peace to you” So, that was how it went on. It was his peace that was sustaining me.

After the 2011 incident, I was here for Shiloh 2012. When it got to the police, the way and manner people were handling it was not to my comfort.

When we went to the police, they said they wanted to take the case to court but I said no, I said ‘how can I stand in court against my father?’ So, that was how I didn’t show up in court.

Some members of the church went there and they called me to come but I refused. Because there was no way I was going to stand against my father, Bishop David Oyedepo, in court. I said, “God, if you cannot do it, just leave it; but there is one thing I assure you of, I will never go another way.’

I left the church for a while and didn’t attend any church. I locked myself inside the house and would always place my baby’s picture inside my Bible and cry unto God.

It became a thing of friendship between me and God. God started assuring me, “Samuel, your baby will come back!” I never met with the Bishop again. I consulted no pastor again.

My wife and I prayed in the mid-night hours, naked before God, crying unto heaven. I would weep all night and when it was daybreak, I would be the happiest man, going about my business, as usual.

My baby, Glory, would comfort me, saying, ‘daddy don’t cry, I saw Jesus carrying Praise on His shoulders’. My wife said she wanted to be pregnant again in order to find comfort. So, she got pregnant.

What really broke the head of the devil is where I am going now. when my wife was pregnant, we went to the Redemption Camp frequently to pray until the day of delivery.

On December 27, 2012, my wife went to the hospital for delivery at about 7.p.m. I was on my way to the hospital when I heard a voice, “Samuel, shut your mouth. Whether you pray or you don’t pray, the way and manner this child will be delivered, that is the way your baby, Praise, will come back." I looked around me but saw nobody.

I went to the hospital and was eager to see how the miracle was going to happen. I saw my wife and I said, “How do you feel? Have they attended to you?” And she said no. She said there were other people in the delivery room. She said I should pray and I said “No. Let’s us not pray” having said that, I told her what the Lord had told me on my way to the hospital.

Behold, the baby in her womb pulled out without her entering into the delivery room. From that day on, I cast away worry. The Lord said to me, “Samuel, I have come to give you peace.” So the pain in me, the feeling of pain was erased from my heart.

Every where I went, I took my Bible, encouraging myself in the Lord. Three months after that, I started going to a nearby church. I kept waiting on the Lord to speak and I kept giving thanks everyday, especially in the midnight, with my little baby.

On June 12, I dressed my daughter up for school and I put the food on the dining table. I asked her to come and eat. We usually pray together before eating and she prays this way: “Father, thank you for today. As we are about to eat, bring my sister, Praise, and let her come and join us in this table.”

That particular day, my daughter said, “Daddy, but we have been praying for Praise, where has Praise gone to?” I said to her, “Praise has travelled with mummy and she will soon come back”. I never knew that those words were words of prophecy.

The following day, I took her to school and two days went by and nothing happened. But on Saturday, June 15, I was in the shop and I received a call, “Are you the father of the twins?” I said, “Yes” and she said “I am Mrs. Adewale” I said, “from where?” She said she was from Obasanjo Farm Police Station. I asked her what she wanted and she said my baby had been found. I asked her whose baby because it was too shocking.

At first, I was scared, because I thought it was another plan of kidnap. I called the woman back and said, “This is me ma. The I. P. O. before was Mrs. Lawal , so why is it Mrs. Adewale that is calling me now? She said, “Lawal has been transferred.”

I then asked of the D. P. O. because I wanted to hear it from the horse’s mouth. She said it was another DPO that was there. I went to pick one of my brothers and two other men to accompany me to the station.

So you saw her at the station?
When I saw my baby at the entrance of the police station, I was shocked and amazed at the same time. I fell down and I collapsed and the police started carrying me up.

I thought I was no more because I didn’t imagine God doing this kind of thing. I know that I have followed God in sincerity of heart. I said “God can you do this thing?”

I turned to my daughter and carried her. When she saw me, she said she wanted to go and sleep. She no longer speaks English; it is Igbo language that she speaks now. I called her Praise and she said ‘Yes’ I said ‘I am your daddy’. She hugged me and kissed me.

The police men said, ‘If a miracle like this is happening, the whole of the station will be worshipping the God of Oyedepo.’ I bless the name of the Lord! God is awesome. I thought my waiting was in vain, but I have now seen the hand of God. I will serve God all the days of my life.

Have you gotten any idea who the kidnappers of your baby were?
There were speculations. Some said that the person who took her must have printed a fake tag. They said that the kidnapper might be someone we know. I said the only person that is close to me is a printer and I was the one who invited him to this church in February 2011 and then in April Praise was kidnapped.

The police said that if that was the case, the man was a suspect . So, we went to arrest him. I told them I didn’t want to go to the court but I was forced to.

On getting to the court I saw the brethren all there. As at that time, I had never been to the court before. The judge complained that I was asked to come to court before but I refused; so, the case was adjourned. I went on my knees and said, “God have mercy; you are the judge of all.”

Do you know the man that made the confession? Have you ever had any dealing with him?
No, I don’t know him. We were told that he came to confess to the Bishop and after the confession he became blind again and died. He is in the mortuary right now.

The police came to meet the Bishop here and that was where he was interrogated.

We heard that there was a syndicate; the person who stole the child, the person who bought her for N40, 000 and the last recipient in Enugu who bought her…

The person who took the child to sell is in the police custody and the person or people who bought the child are still in Enugu.

Don’t you need to know to what extent they dealt with the child while with the syndicate?
I don’t think that is necessary because the Bishop said they have carried out medical tests on the child and the child is okay.

You have an idea what they were using your child for these past two years?
They are in the police custody; so, the police will let us know.

As the father of the child, you should find out from the police what really happened, don’t you think?
Yes. It is necessary!

How has Praise’s interaction with you been since she returned?
It was just yesterday that she returned. Blood is thicker than water. The Bishop gave us a car to go and pick her twin sister. When we got home, to my surprise, nobody told Praise to embrace her beloved sister. I asked her “am I your daddy? She said, “Yes” and she also spoke to her mother on the phone calling her “mummy”; she was so happy. Praise and her sister were playing and so they didn’t go to bed on time. Even while they were asleep, they crossed their hands together.

What was your wife’s reaction when you told her on the phone that Praise had returned home?
I don’t know whether she cried or laughed, but I heard a loud voice. She shouted like never before. She kept calling and asking me if I was sure that Praise had returned. It was until she spoke to Praise herself that she believed.

She is on her way now; she said that she wanted to lead the praise in Winners Chapel before coming back! She travelled with our last daughter so they are coming back together

Teen BEHEADS Father After He Repeatedly Raped Her

Community leaders are protecting a teenager accused of beheading her father after he repeatedly rapèd her in their Papua New Guinea village from the police, according to reports.

The Post-Courier reported that an 18-year-old woman allegedly cut off her father's head in their Western Highlands home on the night of June 11 while the girl's mother and his three other children were away visiting relatives, the Agence France-Presse (AFP) notes. The man had allegedly rapèd the young girl repeatedly. The girl reported the incident to community leaders, who believe she was justified in the killing, the report states.

“The father wanted to rapè his daughter again in the morning inside the house and that was when the young girl picked up the bush knife and chopped her father's head off,” Pastor Lucas Kumi said. Later adding, “The daughter did what she did because of the trauma and the evil actions of her father so that is why we have all agreed that she remains in the community."

The police, however, want to question the teen.

"A crime has allegedly been committed," police spokesman Dominic Kakas told the Australian Associated Press (AAP) Monday. "But a murder is a murder, it is a matter that will be investigated."

Violence against women is high in Papua New Guinea. The U.S. Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) cites a 2008 report from The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) that states the country as a whole has one of the world’s highest rates of sexual violence. Eight percent of the women in the country have been raped, "but this number is likely low due to under-reporting," the report notes

Woman Stabbed To Death By Mother-inlaw In Nasarawa

A wicked mother-in-law, Mrs Kareen Opara, has gone underground after allegedly stabbing her son’s wife, Esther Oluchi, to death in Anguwa Baba area of Nasarawa State. But the police have launched a hot chase to fish her out.
The women, who lives in the same neighbourhood with his son, Chinedu and the deceased wife, hailed from Imo State. She was alleged to have been at loggerheads for sometime over a picture taken by the deceased at the wedding of her (Kareen’s) daughter, last December.
Trouble was said to have broken out between the late Oluchi and her mother-in-law when it was reported to her that Kareen (her mother-in-law) was caught at a herbalist’s home with one of her photographs.
In a bid to retrieve the picture, Oluchi approached Kareen and pleaded with her to return the said picture to her but she ignored all pleas and rather took offence for the effrontery of her daughter-in-law.
Angered by what she saw as “confrontation” by her son’s wife, Mrs Kareen confronted her son Chinedu and warned him to call his wife to order or risk being punished with her.
Unknown to the son that the mother had not forgiven his wife for daring to ask her to return her picture, Chinedu tried to mediate in the spat to appease his mother and the wife.
Family sources said a peace meeting summoned by Chinedu to reconcile his mother with the late wife ended in violence, as the mother, who was armed with a sharp machete, went for her daughter-in-law, who was carrying one of her two daughters on her back and stabbed her in the tummy. The Federal Government, on Thursday, said smoking would soon be banned in the country as soon as the Anti-Tobacco Bill before the National Assembly was passed into law.
It also disclosed its readiness to convene a Universal Health Coverage to help boost strategies towards improving healthcare delivery.
Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, who spoke in Abuja, at a ministerial platform, insisted that the Federal Government could no longer condone smoking.

Professor Chukwu listed his achievements in office in the last two years to include establishment of National Trauma Centres in the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital and the National Hospital, Abuja; completion of Federal Staff Hospital, Jabi, Abuja; completion of Laboratory and Administrative building of the Nigerian Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD), Abuja, and rehabilitation and equipping of several teaching hospitals in the country.

Nigerian Fraudster Frido Ambrose Arrested In Idia

Nigerian Fraudster Frido Ambrose Arrested In India
Frido Ambrose and two other scamsters defrauded people of lakhs of rupees in an online lottery fraud by delivering packets of black paper instead of currency notes
The Nigerian national, Frido Ambrose (35), who duped a city woman of Rs.2.32 lakh (N651,915) in a 'black dollar scam' and arrested by the City Police on Wednesday, was presented before the media on Thursday.
Giving details to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) P. Viswa Prasad said Ambrose and two other scamsters had defrauded people of lakhs of rupees (hundreds thousands of rupees) by making them believe that they had won a lottery organised by Microsoft/RBI and then delivering packets of black paper instead of currency notes.
Rupavathi, a post-graduate student, received an e-mail on May 24 saying that she had won an annual prize of 1 million pounds (252,923,492.35 NGN). She paid Rs.21,000 (N59,010) into an SBI account as directed by the fraudsters.
Within hours, she received another mail from the 'RBI' saying that she was the lucky winner of 1 million pounds and directed her to pay Rs.2.31 lakh (N651,915) towards the 'cost of transfer of the prize money'.
Mr. Viswa Prasad said that the girl informed her parents and they sold their coconut grove and deposited Rs.2.31 lakh (N651,915) in instalments in different accounts as sought by the fraudsters. Rupavathi, however, became suspicious after the accused wanted her address to deliver the prize money.
She invited the fraudster to Visakhapatnam and laid a trap with the help of the police. The accused was arrested when he arrived at the residence of the complainant.
Dubious website
He had an electronic safe, which contained small packets of hard black paper concealed in white cotton. The DCP said that during the course of investigation it was found that the accused and his associates had created a fake RBI website and sent text messages to randomly-selected people stating that they had won huge amounts of money.
Those who fell in their trap were asked to deposit money in various accounts. The accused would give their victims a tax code in exchange of that money to enable them transfer the prize money into their accounts. They would then fool their victims with black paper saying they were defaced US dollars, which could be restored by applying a chemical.
Mr. Viswa Prasad said that the accused came to Mumbai on business purpose in 2008. His visa, which seemed to be genuine, had expired in June 2011.
Though he claims to be only an agent of the fraudulent company, he has been overstaying in the country.

Homophobic Nigeria and Pakistan top searchers for gay porn

Pakistan and Nigeria, two of the world's most brutally LGBT intolerant societies contrarily, are the top online searchers for related content.
Google trends indicate towards the maximum searches on terms like 'shemale sex,' 'teen anal sex,' and 'man f-cking man' are carried out by those living in Pakistan and Nigeria, Huffington Post reports.
According to the report, both the countries feature in the top five for Google searches about gay porn while Kenya, which is a strongly anti-gay, top the list for such content.
Lawmakers in Nigeria have recently passed 'anti-gay' bill, which not only criminalizes homosexuality but gay rights as well.
People in Nigeria and Pakistan strongly oppose that homosexuality be accepted by the society.
Pakistani politician, Farahnaz Ispahani, said that due to societal pressure and lack of openness about gay identity in Pakistan, people turn to pornography and have relations with same sex without considering themselves to be gay.
Member of an LGBT support group, Ali said that the matter about homosexuality is under wraps in Pakistan and wished it were bit more open, the report added.

Pen still mightier than the tablet

MUNICH (Reuters) - Computers, tablets and smartphones have not yet managed to crowd out pens and pencils, says Faber-Castell, German maker of high-end writing instruments.

The family-run group, famous for its forest-green pencils, says its production is still running at top speed thanks to rising levels of education in emerging markets on the one hand and demand for stylish writing tools in developed countries on the other.
"People are writing less, but when they do, they like to do so with a nice writing utensil," Chief Executive Count Anton-Wolfgang von Faber-Castell told Reuters in an interview.
He said that hand-written missives were experiencing a renaissance, especially if a signature was required.
"Yes, modern technology is becoming more and more prevalent, but our products are still in demand."
In countries like South America or Asia, demand for pencils is growing as more and more children go to school. Although Faber-Castell sells products at the higher end of the price range, the company has managed to fend off low-cost competition thanks to its established name.
Faber-Castell traces its roots back to the 18th century, when cabinet-maker Kaspar Faber was born. In his spare time Faber made pencils for himself but soon became so successful that he set up his own business.
Its current blue-blooded CEO took over in 1978, having returned home from a life as an investment banker in London and putting a family member at the head of the company for an eighth generation.
The 72-year-old Faber-Castell, whom the tabloids called Germany's most eligible bachelor in his younger years, said production at the company's site in the southern German town of Stein was running well, with Saturday shifts often required to keep up with orders.
"I will do everything to ensure we can still keep the Made in Germany tag," he said.
The company last year reported sales of around 600 million euros ($798 million). It doesn't provide further financial details but says it turned a profit.

Man Killed Over 100 Naira

A 23-year-old man has been stabbed to death at No 37, lkarigbo Street, Igbogunrin in lgbokoda, llaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The deceased was said to have been attacked by three young men owing to his inability to pay N100 he borrowed from one of his friends. Police sources said the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital mortuary, Akure, for autopsy.
Two suspects Iwajomo Oluwise and Fayemi Ajide have been arrested in connection with the murder. It was gathered that the suspects approached the deceased and demanded that he pay back the debt being owed one of them.
His refusal to repay the money reportedly provoked a hot argument that later degenerated into a fight, prompting one of the suspects to stab the deceased in the stomach.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants attempted to escape when they realized their victim had become unconscious but a team of policemen, that had earlier received information of the incident moved to the scene and accosted them.
The Ondo Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident, saying two of the suspects have been arrested while the other escaped.
According to Ogodo, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased until his death owed one of his assailants and that his inability to repay led to his death.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, he said the suspects had since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation, adding that they would soon appear in court.
Ogodo added that efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing suspect just as he warned people to learn how to report their differences to the police for possible settlement and stop taking laws into their hands.A

Messi Could Be Jailed For Four Years

Lionel Messi, the Barcelona star footballer and his father are accused of scamming $5.3 million in taxes from Spanish authorities. Along with his father, Jorge Horacio Messi, the high income player is accused of fraudulent tax returns for 2007, 2008 and 2009.
It’s clear this won’t be a simple case. A judge must accept the prosecutor’s lawsuit before any charges could be brought.
This is bad press for the World Star player but centers on companies and endorsement deals. Tax advisers can be expected to contend that this is no more than tax planning, not unlike aggressive football play.
According to Forbes, Messi earns $41.3 million per year, making him the 10th highest-paid athlete in the world. But not all of it is for actual play.
He is said to collect $21 million from endorsement deals, including Adidas. He makes about $20 million from Barcelona. Only David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo had higher earnings from soccer. In a statement released via his Facebook page, Messi said:
“We have just known through the media about the claim filed by the Spanish tax authorities. We are surprised about the news, because we have never committed any infringement. We have always fulfilled all our tax obligations, following the advice of our tax consultants who will take care of clarifying this situation.”
Messi’s contract is understood to pay €11 million (£8.5 million) a year net. But the issue is beyond salary. Barcelona’s El Periodico newspaper says it involves commercial revenues from the Spanish authorities from 2006 through 2009 by directing the income to companies in tax havens. Much remains unclear, but if the reports are to be believed, the image and license deals are assigned to companies domiciled in tax havens

Meet David Luiz’s frankly ridiculous doppelganger

Photo from the Galícia website
You might recognise the guy on the right – that's David Luiz who is a Brazilian footballer with long curly hair who plays the position of defender.
You might not know the guy on the left – but that's Davi Luis who is a Brazilian footballer with long curly hair who plays the position of defender.
Wait….what?
The amazing doppelganger spot was made by Brazilian website Globoesporte.
Luiz is a Premier League star with Chelsea of course but his almost-namesake look-a-like is not quite playing at the same level.
Instead he plies his trade for Galicia in the second division of Brazil's Bahia region.
However, at 19-years-old Luis still has time to catch up ability wish with the 26-year-old Luiz who has won 20 caps for Brazil.
"I do not know him (Luiz). Only from the television. Everywhere I go people say I look like him. Everyone talks to me about it. Who knows, maybe one day we will play together? I'm left-footed. He is right-footed. It would be a great partnership.
"My dream is to establish myself and play for a big team in Europe and in Brazil."
